I am eager to share more stories with you here about the musicians that have helped me to arrive at this really exciting project. My friends, teachers, mentors and colleagues- all have contributed to this project as it arose from the dust of COVID lockdown. We were resilient and continued to learn, study, imagine, create and collaborate. What a wonderful gift this has become. This section features the adapted lyric to the tune "My Favorite Things" by Tom Theabo and his brother, Sam. Janet Planet narrates the song over a brilliant arrangement by Tom Theabo and Tom Washatka - featuring Tom T. and I on guitars, weaving back and forth as we always had during my lessons with Tom years ago...and over eons of time..... Stay tuned for some great stories here and from where the introduction verse to "Moonglow" came!
Lyric to "My Favorite Things"
by Tom & Sam Theabo, Featuring Janet Planet
Trilobites, lighting and warm shallow seas Fern photosynthesis, air from the trees
Precambrian era was so full of change This was once called our home on the range
Rat snake n cheetah, mantis n leech Urchins n starfish, seals on the beach
Galapagos tortoise outlives you and I Imagine a turtle that never would die
Mealworm for anole, tree frog for crane Siberian tiger hunt prey on the plain
From the whale in the sea to the fly in the poop We’re from the same biological soup
Hyena’s laughter and cries from a dingo Chirping of crickets and Myna bird’s lingo
All this combined is a natural score Plus, mother nature will play and encore!
The patience of lichens last millions of years The silence of rabbits when predator nears
Agelessness, timelessness life of the stone Petrified wood and fossilized bone
So, acknowledge the sun, the moon, and the tide Here’s to our planet don’t keep it inside
Look up to the stars and wonder each night No one can deny that this was done right!
